The BayCare Sound is the newest major room in Tampa Bay and, at the moment, arguably the best-sited. It opened on June 28, 2023 in a rebuilt, 19-acre Coachman Park on the downtown Clearwater waterfront, owned by the City of Clearwater and programmed as part of the Ruth Eckerd Hall family of venues.
Capacity is 9,000: about 4,000 seated under the canopy, with room for another 5,000 on the lawn behind. That puts it between the theatres and the big amphitheatre in Tampa, and the sightlines come with an intracoastal sunset behind the stage.
It has been busy from the start — more than 432,000 people through the gates in its first three years — and it's rider-ready, with an L-Acoustics L Series concert system installed so touring productions don't have to bring their own PA.
The booking skews toward established touring acts: The Black Keys, Deep Purple, Squeeze with Adam Ant, and similar bills that want an outdoor room without an arena's overhead.
